Product Details
The Swoosh looks to capture more of the magic Dunk energy in a bottle, delivering this remastered edition of its classic basketball-turned-skate shoe. Unfurling its deconstructed toolkit are the designers over at Oregon, tweaking the shoe’s traditional details for an update the modern sneakerhead needs. This “White Gum” edition strips back the wild colourways that made the Dunk so popular during the early 2000s, giving the new silhouette a chance to breathe.
The undulating lines of the midsole, the ripstop mesh and the exposed foam tongue are all changes made immediately clear when looking at the update. Going full steam ahead with the altered design language is the eyestay and lacing system, adding a large pull tab which gives the shoe its functional edge. The rubber lip on the toe suggests improved durability, but the mesh upper counteracts this, suggesting it serves an aesthetic purpose instead. The traditional Swoosh has been swapped out for the thick-cut version that was seen on the hugely popular Air Max LD Waffle Zero from 2017/18, a choice that truly brings the shoe forward with its modern reference points.
